JULY 7, 2007 WAS A RED-LETTER DAY! We held its first ever Open House and it was very well attended. The historic WSCS Hall never looked better and now that I think about it, the members looked pretty good, too. In all, 57 members and guests came out to help us celebrate. Special thanks to Betty & Carl Schleig for coordinating refreshments. AND NOW THE FAIR. We were fortunate to have the same location at the GDS Fair again this year. By general consensus, it's the best place for an organization such as ours. Bill Livesey generously loaned the society a history of telecommunications equipment to include in our display at the fair and I'm certain that most of the fellas walking by stopped and gawked a little. Thank you Bill, very much. And thank you to our cadre of willing and able volunteers. Without them, we would not be the growing Historical Society we are.
ANOTHER OPEN HOUSE. On Saturday, October 20, the WSCS Hall will be open to the public from Noon - 4 PM. The Young Geezers have agreed to perform from 1-3 PM with an intermission at about 2 PM. The Young Geezers sing and play Blue Grass, Folk, Old Time Gospel and Texas Swing music. There will be no charge, but a free-will offering would be nice! And I'm fairly certain there will be refreshments.
Remember the upcoming anniversary of the 1958 SNOWSTORM. We are collecting reminiscences and pictures (which we will copy and return). Please contact Ruth Altemier @676-4354 or Betty Roach @676-4729.
A HEARTY WELCOME to new members Albert Neri, Connie Hagelin, Nancy Gumble, Bucky and Ruth Gilpin, and J.J. Coello. Welcome aboard!
